3th of july... We are taking over the way of walking of Cuban people – "nice and easy – no need to rush!" The weather and the heat is forcing us to do everything very much "tranquilo - tranquilo"...
On our way to Cuba Tours, to pick up our flight ticket...
The old kolonial houses in Habana... once they must have been 'breath-taking'. They still are, but slowly and gradualy, they are fading away. The people here are so poor, they need every bit of Money to live, nevermind restoring their house. We can only cross our fingers and hope the system will change in time...
We see some children on a basketballfield playing (in the Calle San Juan de Dios) – The playground could use some renovation, like everything here, but it doesn't bother the children at all – as long as they have a bal to play with, they are doing fine. Thàts the spirit!
We buy english Cuban newspapers... its still full of propaganda – Ché, Fidel, José Marti and many more are still the national hero's here, like the revolution only happened 1 month ago instead of 50 years!
Renée, the man of 83 who sold dus the newspapers is a active old man, full of energy! He used to create perfumes! And he was a scientist... He speaks about everything full of passion – its very easy to listen to him with an open mouth, we were just stunned bij him and the stories he shared with us!
On our way to the plaza de la Cathedral we see some musicians on the plaza de Armas ... they play "dos gardenias" (buona vista social club) after i mentioned that one of them looks like Ibrahim Ferrer...
We also see some people on stelts – beautiful, colourfull streettheater!
On the plaza de la Cathedral we chill a bit and try the best we can to be 'inviseable' – so we can watch around without being watched ourselves... hehe
We go and seen Plaza Vieja and meet the aunt of Juan again, this time with her children.
We walk along the Malecon and see loads and loads of old American cars passing by...
We end our day with a lovely dinner at "El Patio" n the Plaza de la Cathedral and with mojito's!!
